Parsons Village
Easthampton, Massachusetts
Berkshire design worked in collaboration with Dietz & Company Architects and Valley CDC in developing site plan that helps develop a sense of community. The 38 unit are divided into 7 town house buildings that are arranged around a park and community space within the 4.3-acre parcel. Care was taken to provide a variety of open spaces around the town houses, from private partially enclosed patios to semiprivate green screened spaces to completely public park, plaza, and playground spaces. A meandering path connects the Parsons Village public open space to the rest of the Parsons Street and Mount Tom Neighborhood. Parsons Village has the distinction of being the first net zero energy large scale state funded affordable housing project.
