The Atkins Market Country Store in South Amherst continues to be among the areas most popular shopping destinations. Started in 1962 at the foot of the Holyoke Range and amongst historic apple orchards, the local family market now features a 25,000 SF building offering groceries and local produce, a full-time bakery, informal dining, and an ice cream shop. Berkshire Design provided site design, civil engineering, and permitting assistance during the most recent expansion completed in 1996.
