Rob Zywno
Survey Technician
Rob brings to Berkshire Design a complimentary background discerning invisible connections that shape our landscape. A prolific Apiarian, Rob has managed over 200 honeybee colonies within the greater Pioneer Valley working with local farms. For over a decade he cultivated a mutualistic beneficial relationship of keeping beehives adjacent to local farms to support crop production and produce quality honey for the area. Through this lens he has learned to understand patterns of ecology, work with colonies to prevent swarming and anticipate the social needs of the hives he managed. His distributed network of hives enriched his knowledge of the local land. This local knowledge builds upon earlier training as a lawyer, and practice in dealing with the legal aspects of environmental remediation with the City of Holyoke and Mass DEP. These wider experiences enrich his passion for spatial data collection and his work both in the office and the field building surveys.
